Baffin Island and Greenland
Circling the Midnight Sun with Adventure Canada

Family-owned and operated, expedition cruise company Adventure Canada specializes in facilitating exploration of the world’s least visited and most amazing places – the Canadian Arctic, the awe-inspiring fjords of Greenland, the Isles of the north Atlantic and beyond.

Offering an adventurous range of small-ship expedition cruises, Adventure Canada complements each extraordinary itinerary with a hand selected expedition team – experts in their fields who are there to enhance each journey through their presence, knowledge, and craft. Emphasis is always placed on selecting expedition members from the areas visited to ensure that guests benefit from not only expert but local interpretation.

New for 2025, Adventure Canada is offering its first ever sailing of Baffin Island and Greenland: Circling the Midnight Sun – a brand new trip designed to immerse guests in the beauty and wonder of life in the High Arctic, chasing the magic of the 24-hour sun experienced North of the Arctic Circle. Hosted by revered Canadian author James Raffan, this 12-day expedition is an in-depth exploration of the wonderful landscapes, people and culture of Nunavut, Canada and Greenland in the height of the Arctic summer.

This expedition begins in Nunavut’s capital city, Iqaluit, at the head of Frobisher Bay. After transferring by Zodiac from Iqaluit Harbour to Ocean Endeavour, set sail towards the first stop, the uninhabited island of Kitigtung, also known in English as Lady Franklin Island, to marvel at the incredible geology of the Arctic Archipelago by sea. Explore the coastline by Zodiac, keeping watch for seabirds, polar bears, and marine life.

Continuing North, call on Southeast Baffin Island, spending time on the nuna – the Inuktitut name for land – hiking or just taking in the breathtaking surroundings. Adventure Canada always offer a variety of options for time on the land designed to suit the interests and abilities of their guests. On the next day call on the small but vibrant community of Panniqtuuq to be immersed in Inuit art in a variety of mediums such as print and fibre arts at the Uqqurmiut Inuit Arts Centre, known for its beautifully woven tapestries and prints.

Other opportunities of note include two-days spent exploring the stunning and culturally significant Cumberland Peninsula, an ecologically rich area sustaining the Inuit and their predecessors for thousands of years. Not only is this an ecologically and culturally rich place, it is also significant in the history of maritime exploration. The Cumberland Sound area is even considered a potential missing link in the early search for the Northwest Passage. After exploring the Cumberland Peninsula, sail across the Davis Strait to Greenland, crossing the Arctic Circle.

In Kalaallit Nunaat, known in English as Greenland, take in spectacular coastal areas, enjoying many and varied opportunities for hiking, walking, photography, and more. Visit UNESCO World Heritage Site Illulissat Icefjord, renowned for its enormous icebergs and the source of many Icebergs that make their way to the North Atlantic. Visit the Illulissat Icefjord Centre and enjoy the town with its varied museums, cafes, craft shops, and bustling harbour. Spend your last few days exploring the Sisimiut Coast, witness stunning glaciers, islands, and Fjords, before disembarking and waving a fond farewell to the beauty of the North in Kangerlussuaq, Greeland, for a charter flight to Toronto, Ontario.
