The MICHELIN Guide Malta 2026

The recently unveiled MICHELIN Guide Malta 2026 reinforced the island’s continued success as a premier Mediterranean gastronomic destination. In the highlights, ION Harbour retained two MICHELIN Stars for the third consecutive year, 6 restaurants retained one MICHELIN Star, and 5 new recommendations made the list.

This year’s guide recognized Chef George Attard with the MICHELIN “Young Chef” Award. At 31-years-old, Gozo native, Chef Attard’s contemporary culinary vision blends local inspiration with modern techniques and pure, expressive flavors. Inspectors particularly praised his “Lamb Rump” with anchovies, shallots, and parmentière sauce for its precision and presentation. After gaining valuable international experience, Attard returned to Gozo in 2025 to lead Level Nine at The Grand, located atop the Grand Hotel Gozo overlooking Mgarr Harbour.

Other successes reflected on the 2026 guide include De Mondion’s Miljan Radonjic, who received the MICHELIN “Sommelier” Award. Miljan is well known for his polite disposition, professionalism, and ability to connect with guests.

Malta Toursim Authority, North America Representative, Michelle Buttgieg commented, “Malta’s culinary scene provides such a special connection to Maltese culture and heritage.” The ingenuity of our world class chefs continues to amaze in their craftsmanship that not only draws on tradition, but introduces modern elements.”
