The Tokyo Edition Toranomon

“Heightseeing” is considered an elevated special interest category of sightseeing. It refers to the uplifting attraction that many travelers display toward skyscrapers, towers, observation decks, and panoramic vistas, all from as lofty a viewing point as possible. The highest tower in Tokyo is the Tokyo Skytree, but the Tokyo Tower, in second place, is very impressive on its own.

The orange and white communication-observation tower is particularly gorgeous at night when illuminated, resembling a 332.9 meter (1092 foot) Christmas tree. Many travelers arriving or departing by air from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in the evening immediately spot the Tokyo Tower. So, imagine yourself marveling at the iconic landmark outside your hotel room window. This is the view that guests enjoy from the Tower View rooms and suites at The Tokyo Edition Toranomon.

This 5-star luxury lifestyle hotel, managed by Marriott International, is located on floors 31 to 36 of the Kamiyacho Trust Tower, a 4-minute walk from the Kamiyacho Metro Station. The neighborhood is Toranomon, which means “Tiger Gate” and refers to the southernmost of the 36 gates that protected Edo Castle, the current venue of Tokyo’s Imperial Palace. While the Tiger Gate was demolished in 1870, the term’ Toranomon’ continues to conjure up feelings of energy and excitement, which certainly describes this downtown area of Tokyo.

The Tokyo Edition Toranomon opened in October 2020 with 206 rooms, including 22 suites. The interior was designed by Kengo Kuma, the celebrated Tokyo-based architect known for incorporating nature (wood, plants, trees) into his works. Kuma collaborated with Ian Schrager, the American entrepreneur of Studio 54 fame, whose cutting-edge company conceives innovative ideas for luxury hotels and residential properties.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with one King or two Queen beds, and feature panoramic window views of the Toranomon neighborhood. Guests of all ages stay at the hotel while enjoying do-it-yourself leisure travel, package tours, family adventure, or corporate travel. The hotel concept is based on engagement, energy, luxury, and customer service.

After a busy day exploring the city, guests can return to their hotel room to luxuriate in the deep Japanese bathtub, using high-end Le Labo soaps and amenities. Some rooms include a walk-out terrace. All rooms can access the outdoor Garden Terrace, where guests enjoy drinks or dinner. It is surrounded by plants and trees and has an open view of the Tokyo Tower.

Other relaxing venues include dining in the Jade Room or Blue Room, visiting the lobby bar, or enjoying the new and classic cocktails in the award-winning Gold Bar.

The Hotel Edition Toranomon offers a relaxed, luxury experience complemented by the backdrop of the Tokyo skyline.
